Nice work! This is Box #2!

Level 1: Solve the following 5 problems:

The tale of two turtle doves:
doves
Turtle doves, Gertrude and Heathcliff, contemplate an upcoming vacation.

FYI: Turtle doves are so named for the vibrating "turrr, turrr" sound of their song (and not for a connection to reptiles).

1. Eating together, Gertrude and Heathcliff spend 40 minutes each day at a local sunflower bird feeder. In preparation for their upcoming vacation flight, they have increased their time at the local feeder by 5%. How long are they now spending each day, in minutes, at the feeder?

2. To get in shape for the upcoming vacation flight, Gertrude and Heathcliff fly around the outside of a nearby park each morning. The park is a rectangle whose width is 50 feet and whose area is 3750 square feet. How far, in feet, do they fly each morning?

3. Gertrude and Heathcliff belong to a frequent-flyer program that awards 3 frequent-flyer mileage points for every 2 miles flown. How many frequent-flyer points will Gertrude accumulate if she flies 386 miles?

4. Gertrude wants to fly southeast to a friend's corn field, while Heathcliff wants to fly southwest to his brother's wheat farm. The total time for these two flights is 15 hours. The flight time for Gertrude's trip is half that of Heathcliff's trip. How long does it take to fly to Heathcliff's brother's farm?

5. Heathcliff found a road map showing the driving route to a resort that he knows Gertrude enjoys. The map shows a roadway, starting from Heathcliff's position, that goes 8 miles north, 5 miles east, 7 miles north and finally 3 miles east. How many miles will be saved if Heathcliff and Gertrude fly directly to the resort?
